This October, the new 5 In 1 Portable Handheld Air Cooled Laser Welding Machine was exhibited at Manufacturing World Osaka at INTEX Osaka, shown by our distributor in Japan. Manufacturing World Osaka, organized by RX Japan, is the largest manufacturing-focused B2B exhibition in the Kansai region and is held every October at INTEX Osaka. The hall runs several co-located shows under one roof - the Smart Maintenance Expo, the Factory Facilities & Equipment Expo, the Measure/Test/Sensor Expo and the Manufacturing x Physical AI Expo - alongside zones for welding, automation and machine elements. For a welding equipment maker, the audience is exactly right. The aisles are filled with production engineers, maintenance managers and fabrication shop owners from across western Japan - the people who decide what the next workbench, the next repair station or the next welding cell will look like.

On the Booth: the New 5-in-1 Handheld Laser Welder

The centerpiece of the booth was the 5 In 1 Portable Handheld Air Cooled Laser Welding Machine, the newest addition to PDKJ's handheld laser line. It is a compact, air-cooled unit: no water chiller to install and no cooling plumbing to maintain, which is what makes handheld laser welding realistic for small workshops, on-site installation work and service vehicles.

The machine is available in 1200 W, 1500 W and 2000 W laser power configurations. It welds stainless steel and carbon steel from 0.2 to 3 mm, and aluminium and galvanized steel from 0.2 to 2 mm. A standard 10-meter fiber optic cable gives the operator reach around large workpieces, a built-in wire feeding system covers joints that need filler metal, and the 7-inch touchscreen ships with pre-installed welding parameters so new operators get to usable results faster. The complete unit weighs 68 kg, so it moves between working areas on a bench or a trolley rather than with a forklift.

What Visitors Asked About Most

1. Thin sheet without distortion. Stainless cabinets, kitchen equipment, door and window frames: the questions were about heat input and how much grinding is left after welding. Laser welding keeps the seam narrow - roughly 0.1 to 0.3 mm wide with correct parameters - so for suitable joints, secondary grinding and polishing can be reduced or removed entirely.
2. Whether air cooling is really enough. For the capacities listed above, yes: the integrated air-cooled design works within a 15-35°C operating range and removes the chiller, the water quality checks and the condensation risks that come with water cooling.
3. On-site and service work. At 68 kg with a 10-meter fiber cable, the machine is built to go to the work - construction installation, equipment repair and maintenance jobs where the part cannot come to a fixed station.
